The Lost Ball Story

2025 Lost Ball Golf Outing
In 2019, our family got an unexpected curveball. What we thought was just a well-placed kick from our toddler turned out to be something far more serious—testicular cancer. Although it probably didn’t help, the pain wasn’t from the kick but from cancer infiltrating the spermatic cord and cutting off blood flow.
Thankfully, my medical team caught it early, and one week later, I had surgery to remove the affected testicle. Because it was detected in time, I was lucky enough to go on surveillance instead of facing chemotherapy or more aggressive treatment. But not everyone is that fortunate.
As it stands, testicular cancer is highly treatable especially when caught early, but it’s not talked about nearly enough. This brought us to forming The Lost Ball Foundation to promote both awareness and early detection.
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men ages 15 to 35, affecting 1 in 270 men. The good news? When caught early, it’s highly treatable. Even in later stages, survival rates remain high—but early detection makes all the difference. The key? Know your body, check yourself regularly, and don’t ignore changes. If something feels off, see a doctor.
The Lost Ball’s mission is to increase the awareness of testicular cancer, promote early detection by providing education on self-examinations, and providing support for those with a testicular cancer diagnosis.
So, fellas, take a minute to check yourself. It could be the most important play of your life!
